FAQ
Q: I seem to
have several lines around my lip borders. Is there something that
would improve this condition?
A: Each patient is an individual, so a consultation is the
best way to answer this. Various recommended treatments would be:
Collagen, Restylane (injectables), fat grafting, CO2 laser, dermabrasion.
Q: How do you
perform a breast lift? What type of scar would be expected?
A: Most frequently Dr. Sykes’ approach is the “vertical
mammoplasty,” which leaves a “lollipop” scar—around
the areola and straight down. The same scar is used for breast reduction.
Q: What can be
done to remove small spider veins on either side of my nose?
A: Options include diode laser and needle electrocautery.
Both of which are available in the office.
Q: My teenage
son is having a terrible time with acne. What can be done to help
him?
A: Dr. Sykes doesn’t treat primary acne (not being a
dermatologist) but we have patients who feel that several of our esthetician
treatments are helpful – including microdermabrasion, ultrasonic
facials, Vitalize Peel, and some topicals, including Phytogel and
Retin A.
Q: Are earlobes
repairable when ripped by wearing heavy earrings?
A: Yes, Dr. Sykes performs this procedure frequently. After
six weeks of mending, she will repierce the ears at no additional
charge.
Q: Can sagging
neck skin under the chin be tightened?
A: Yes, this is usually more effective when done with a facelift
or a “mini” facelift. Sometimes a neck lift alone will
help or a liposuction procedure.
Q: About what
age would someone be fully developed enough to be able to receive
breast implants?
A: Preferably over 18 years of age.
Q: Is there a
charge for a consultation?
A: Dr. Sykes will personally spend 30-45 minutes with you,
taking extensive notes and discussing your plastic surgery questions
and possibilities. There is a consultation fee of $75 which will be
deducted from the final cost of your surgery.
This cost is waived if you first attend one of our “Ask the
Doctor” seminars. Click here for future seminar dates and topics.
